BLOCK 15

YOUR BLOCK ASSIGNMENT

Block 15 - Hemphill Street to Grainger Street

YOUR ARRIVAL STREET - Grainger Street

Google Maps driving directions to your arrival point

Listen friends, this is a unique block because if we are honest, it's the last block before some major chaos. You are block 15. It performs like a very normal block. HOWEVER Blocks 16, 17, and 18 will all share one entry street and one exit street due to lacking entry and exit streets on their individual blocks. All 140 cars from these blocks will EXIT ON YOUR ENTRY STREET Grainger . Yeah, gulp. It's a biggie. We have staggered their arrival and departure times to avoid a crush of 140 cars entering and exiting at the same time but....it'll still be tricky. So we are warning you in advance your entry street is handling a lot of traffic and it may require your patience. We have LOTS of volunteers assigned to this block to help handle the traffic. We have superstar Near Southside staff members running the show here. But your street is narrow, and it is fielding 140 exiting cars from Blocks 16-18 and 40 entering cars for your Block 15 set up. If you arrive and things are tight, stressful, backed-up, a little harrowing...it'll be okay. Take a deep breath and remain patient and let us do our best to clear the street for your entry. We will make sure that you get into your block. It'll just require your patience.

ARRIVAL & SET-UP

SET-UP TIMES

Because of the high volume of car traffic set up will entail, we will be staggering the ARTIST ARRIVAL TIMES in two groups. Please understand that despite your arrival time or your arrival order SPONSOR AND FOOD TENTS have a guarantee to the endcaps they are promised and as they are shown on the map. That means that if a sponsor tent is a bit behind in setting up they will still have the ability to set up on the ends. Please refer to your maps accordingly.

MAPS ARE 'UPSIDE DOWN'

You will enter from Rosedale, driving south towards Magnolia Avenue

The maps are oriented the way your car will be oriented.

All the maps have south at the top of the page and north at the bottom of the page.

This may feel odd to look at now but when you are driving you will be looking at the map in the very same direction you are pointed in your car. The example maps that we will share here explain how to arrive and what the street will look like to you AS YOU ARRIVE. The maps are facing the same direction (facing south) that your car will be facing (facing south) as you arrive. This is similar to the way that your Apple Map or Google Map will automatically orient itself as you drive, these maps are intentionally oriented to your driving view.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE FOR YOUR BLOCK

  • Remember the thing I said above about Blocks 16-18 adding a lot of chaos to your ENTRANCE STREET GRAINGER STREET (which is their exit street). Just keep your cool friends. We'll get it done.
  • City of Fort Worth is the Block 15 sponsor. They have opted to rent and pre-set a 10'x20' sponsor tent on the FULL WEST ENDCAP of block 15 that will be waiting for their arrival on ArtsGoggle day. This sponsor is requested to arrive at 7:00am to load into their tent ahead of all other artists to ensure a smooth start. HOWEVER, regardless of what time they arrive, the City of Fort Worth and all associated partners are entitled to this premium booth space and should be accommodated during arrival.

  • Fort Worth Police Department is a partner to ArtsGoggle and as such will have a 10'x10' booth on the Group B north-facing area just behind the City of Fort Worth sponsor tent. They will not be arriving by car, but instead will arrive by carrying their items from the nearby FWPD police station at the corner of Hemphill and Magnolia on this same block. Block Captains please work with FWPD staff to ensure their space. FWPD, please arrive earlier than 9:00am to claim this spot as artists in Group B begin arriving at 9:30am to claim their spaces.

  • FOOD VENDORS for the Block 15 Food Court to arrive to the Tower Medic parking lot using the instructions shown on the map. Please NEVER ENTER MAGNOLIA AVENUE but instead arrive via Hemphill pulling directly from Hemphill into the parking lot entrance just south of Magnolia. This will help you avoid all conflict with arriving artist traffic.

  • BLOCK 15 IS ALSO HOME TO THE OFFICIAL ARTSGOGGLE BUSKING STAGE a small platform stage hosting solo songwriters all day. Musicians play every hour on the hour and have a low-key listening room approach since they stage is close to the street where artists are located. This exciting feature will help draw crowds across Hemphill connecting blocks 14 and 15 of Magnolia where auto traffic remains open on Hemphill with the support of traffic control officers. Thank you to our sponsors Moncrief Cancer Institute, UT Southwestern, and Southwestern Medical Foundation for this important addition to ArtsGoggle programming. Musicians are instructed to park south of the stage, arriving from Hemphill, into the Tower Medic parking lot that is just behind the Block 15 food court and stage area.
