BLOCK 15

YOUR BLOCK ASSIGNMENT

Block 15 - Hemphill Street to Grainger Street

YOUR ARRIVAL STREET - Grainger Street

Google Maps driving directions to your arrival point

Listen friends, this is a unique block because if we are honest, it's the last block before some major chaos. You are block 15. It performs like a very normal block. HOWEVER Blocks 16, 17, and 18 will all share one entry street and one exit street due to lacking entry and exit streets on their individual blocks. All 140 cars from these blocks will EXIT ON YOUR ENTRY STREET Grainger . Yeah, gulp. It's a biggie. We have staggered their arrival and departure times to avoid a crush of 140 cars entering and exiting at the same time but....it'll still be tricky. So we are warning you in advance your entry street is handling a lot of traffic and it may require your patience. We have LOTS of volunteers assigned to this block to help handle the traffic. We have superstar Near Southside staff members running the show here. But your street is narrow, and it is fielding 140 exiting cars from Blocks 16-18 and 40 entering cars for your Block 15 set up. If you arrive and things are tight, stressful, backed-up, a little harrowing...it'll be okay. Take a deep breath and remain patient and let us do our best to clear the street for your entry. We will make sure that you get into your block. It'll just require your patience.

ARRIVAL & SET-UP

SET-UP TIMES

Because of the high volume of car traffic set up will entail, we will be staggering the ARTIST ARRIVAL TIMES in two groups. Please understand that despite your arrival time or your arrival order SPONSOR AND FOOD TENTS have a guarantee to the endcaps they are promised and as they are shown on the map. That means that if a sponsor tent is a bit behind in setting up they will still have the ability to set up on the ends. Please refer to your maps accordingly.

MAPS ARE 'UPSIDE DOWN'

You will enter from Rosedale, driving south towards Magnolia Avenue

The maps are oriented the way your car will be oriented.

All the maps have south at the top of the page and north at the bottom of the page.

This may feel odd to look at now but when you are driving you will be looking at the map in the very same direction you are pointed in your car. The example maps that we will share here explain how to arrive and what the street will look like to you AS YOU ARRIVE. The maps are facing the same direction (facing south) that your car will be facing (facing south) as you arrive. This is similar to the way that your Apple Map or Google Map will automatically orient itself as you drive, these maps are intentionally oriented to your driving view.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE FOR YOUR BLOCK

  • Remember the thing I said above about Blocks 16-18 adding a lot of chaos to your ENTRANCE STREET GRAINGER STREET (which is their exit street). Just keep your cool friends. We'll get it done.
  • Trinity Metro is the ArtsGoggle PRESENTING sponsor and as a critically important partner they are given a vehicle display at the intersection of Hemphill and Magnolia Avenue, on the eastern side of that intersection, which is the entry point for your block. Trinity Metro will drop one of their Trinity Metro On-Demand vans in the crosswalk area of your Hemphill intersection on either Friday might or Saturday morning (very early) to place it in the center of the street. The first tents to arrive in Group A (Sponsor M1M) and Group B will need to set their tents back approximately 10 feet from that vehicle to allow access between your tent and the Trinity Metro On-Demand vehicle. This benefits everyone. HOWEVER DO NOT LEAVE MORE THAN 10 FEET OR WEL WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIT ALL OF THE BLOCK 15 ARTISTS ON THE BLOCK.
  • Block sponsor M1M should plan for an early 7:00am arrival to get the block spacing correct on the Group A starting place.
