Jay amazingly and generously offered his services to the team at Gustos to pay tribute to Marcus (beloved employee of Gustos and cousin to owner Jonny Arguello), who passed in 2024.
The mural also features Jonny’s great grandmother and great grandfather who had a huge influence of his life until her passing when he was around 21. His great grandmother was a bootlegger in Lubbock back in the day and the photo of her reflected in the mural is her holding a case of beer she was about to sell! The little details in the mural are flowers from Marcus’ funeral and pictures of Jonny’s family and other photos that have important personal meaning to him. The mural is a masterpiece and we encourage you to stop over and take a look!
